Government Awards Presented to 151 Contributors to the Promotion of Science, Technology, and Information and Communications
[Asia Economy Reporter Eunmo Koo] The Ministry of Science and ICT, the Korea Communications Commission, the Korea Information and Broadcasting Telecommunications Alliance, and the Korea Federation of Science and Technology Societies announced on the 21st that they held the ‘2021 Science and Information and Communications Day Commemoration Ceremony’ at the Dongdaemun Design Plaza, Notification Hall 2.
This commemoration ceremony was held to mark the 54th Science Day and the 66th Information and Communications Day, aiming to boost pride and honor through government awards for those who contributed to the promotion of science, technology, and information and communications and the evaluation of national research and development achievements. It was also an occasion to reaffirm the commitment to creating a time of ‘Recovery, Inclusion, and Leap’ based on science, technology, and information and communications.
The event was attended by key figures in the science, technology, and information and communications sectors, including Minister Choi Ki-young of the Ministry of Science and ICT, Lee Won-wook, Chairman of the National Assembly Science, Technology, Information and Broadcasting and Communications Committee, Kim Hyun, Vice Chairman of the Korea Communications Commission, Park Soo-kyung, Science and Technology Advisor to the Presidential Secretariat, Lee Gye-cheol, Chairman of the ICT Alliance, and Lee Woo-il, Chairman of the Korea Federation of Science and Technology Societies.
Among the 151 contributors to the promotion of science, technology, and information and communications and the evaluation of national research and development achievements, 37 representative awardees received their awards on-site, while other awardees participated online.
Minister Choi Ki-young of the Ministry of Science and ICT said in his commemorative speech, “I sincerely congratulate all the contributors who have greatly contributed to the development of science, technology, and information and communications despite difficult circumstances.” He added, “Since the growth of the Republic of Korea has been accompanied by the development of science, technology, and information and communications, we will mobilize all capabilities in these fields to create new industries and jobs and seize new growth opportunities in the era of digital transformation.”
