[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Soyoung] Lee Jae-myung, Governor of Gyeonggi Province, criticized the 'text bomb' from hardline pro-Moon supporters, saying, "There can naturally be various opinions, but it is not right if the way opinions are expressed is violent or deviates from common courtesy."

On the morning of the 20th, Lee attended the 'National Assembly Forum on Improving Rest Facilities for Cleaning and Security Workers' held at a hotel near the National Assembly in Yeouido, Seoul, and said, "The Democratic Party reportedly has 800,000 rights party members and up to 3 million general party members, but how many of them are actually sending these text bombs?"

He added, "There is an aspect of overrepresentation and an aspect of overreaction," and said, "If you close your eyes, there is nothing. If you block about 1,000 phone numbers, the texts don't come in."

Lee, who is currently ranked second in recent polls for the next presidential candidate, responded to a reporter's question about his future presidential campaign by saying, "(Due to the ruling party's election defeat) this is a time for deep reflection." He emphasized, "What we need to do now is to have a humble attitude and fear the sovereign people."

After a meeting in the afternoon with Yoon Ho-jung, the Emergency Committee Chairman and Floor Leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, he evaluated, "Isn't it like parents harshly scolding and disciplining their beloved children so that they do well?"

Regarding real estate issues, he said, "Protection equivalent to essential goods should be provided for one or two houses used as actual residences," and added, "If people living in the metropolitan area have a villa in the provinces and actually use it on weekends, there is no need to impose sanctions."
