[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Bong-ju] Controversy has arisen over claims that a man who threatened others by knocking on a door with a weapon was released just five hours after being arrested.

On the 20th, a post titled "A man wielding a weapon causing trouble in Yangju New Town was released" was uploaded to the Bobae Dream community.

A, who introduced himself as living in an apartment in Yangju, explained his situation, saying, "I want to live. Please tell me how."

According to A's post, around 6 a.m. on the 17th, A's wife B took the elevator down and encountered a man C who got on one floor below.

B felt that C was staring at her intently but pretended not to notice and avoided eye contact, getting off in the underground parking lot.

Two days later, around 1 p.m. on the 19th, while working from home, A's doorbell rang.

The visitor was C. A pretended not to be home and did not respond, but C kept ringing the bell and waiting, and thinking it might be urgent, A eventually opened the door.

C said, "I'm looking for someone, and I think that person lives here, so I need to check. I'm looking for a woman named Kang."

A said, "No such person lives here," but C insisted, "I'm someone who lives downstairs. I have to find that woman." C lingered in front of A's door for a while before finally leaving.

The next day, around 6:30 a.m. on the 20th, C came to A's house again, this time wielding a weapon. When A did not open the door, C kicked the door and threatened with the weapon. In the post, A attached a capture showing C holding the weapon.

A immediately reported to the police, and C was eventually arrested by the responding officers.

The problem was that C was released just five hours after being arrested due to diminished mental capacity.

A expressed fear, saying, "The person who threatened to kill by swinging a knife and kicking the door, who appeared to be mentally unstable even at a glance, who lives just downstairs, was released. I don't know what to do."

He wrote, "They say it's the law in our country that nothing can be done until a real murder occurs," adding, "I'm very scared and overwhelmed."

A said, "The police came and I filled out a personal protection request form, but they said it takes about one to two weeks for review. Protection does not start immediately from today. Honestly, I feel like I could die," and pleaded, "Please tell me how my wife, daughter, and I can survive. I am certain he will come again tonight."
