Haenam-gun Busy Searching for Ways to Foster the Fisheries Equipment Industry

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Hyun] On the 19th, Haenam-gun, Jeollanam-do, visited the Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Equipment Research Institute (Jeonnam Headquarters) located at Mokpo New Port and announced on the 20th that they discussed ways to establish cooperation and development plans between Haenam-gun and the research institute.

The institute is a specialized production technology research institute under the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, promoting the development of the shipbuilding and offshore equipment industry through comprehensive technical support such as technology development and testing certification of shipbuilding and offshore equipment and related parts industries.

Deputy Governor Kang Sang-gu and Choi Ju-seok, head of the Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Equipment Research Institute, held a meeting and agreed to discover linked projects with Haenam-gun and conduct continuous cooperation when promoting the fishery aquaculture equipment industry.

They also decided to pay attention to attracting equipment companies capable of leading the corporatization and scaling-up of local fishermen to the region.

Deputy Governor Kang Sang-gu said, “It is a time when the mechanization, automation, and smartization of aquaculture industry-related facilities and equipment are necessary due to changes in the fishery management environment, and we expect the role of the Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Equipment Research Institute to grow,” requesting cooperation.

Furthermore, through the manufacturing and use of safe and practical fishery equipment, the two organizations will lead the advancement of the fishery equipment industry by creating a systematic nurturing environment for the industry through their cooperation.
