[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] Adolescents in Sancheong-gun, Gyeongnam, are promoting the publication of ‘Storytelling Empathy Communication - DongneBOOK,’ which allows them to empathize with the generations of their grandparents and parents.

The Sancheong-gun Youth Counseling Welfare Center and the Out-of-School Youth Support Center recently held their first communication session for the publication of ‘DongneBOOK’ at Gandhi Village School (located in Sinan-myeon) together with youth companions and Dream Dream on the 20th.

This program is scheduled to continue activities once a week until June. Through activities among three generations including adolescents, youth companions, and Dream Dream mentors, the local scenery remembered by grandparents and parents will be shared through storytelling and a coloring book.

Participants are also taking thorough safety measures, including adhering to quarantine rules to prevent COVID-19.

After publication, ‘DongneBOOK’ will be used as a family communication teaching material when needed, such as for youth and family counseling, and will also be distributed to child and youth institutions such as local children’s centers.

In particular, it is planned to be used as evidence of activities when participating adolescents choose their career paths for high school and college entrance.

A representative of the Sancheong-gun Youth Counseling Welfare Center stated, “We will continue to provide ongoing support for the healthy growth and development of youth in crisis (potential crisis) through visiting counseling, emotional support, linkage to life support, and program support.”
