Boseong-gun to Provide 'Emergency Disaster Living Expenses for All Residents'... Funded by Cutting Officials' Travel and Festival Budgets

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Hyung-kwon] Boseong-gun, Jeonnam (Governor Kim Cheol-woo) announced on the 20th that from the 26th of this month to the 7th of next month, it will provide 100,000 KRW per person as ‘Emergency Disaster Living Expenses’ to all residents who have participated and contributed to COVID-19 prevention efforts.

The 4 billion KRW scale ‘Boseong-gun Emergency Disaster Living Expenses’ will be paid entirely from the county budget, prepared by cutting essential administrative operating expenses such as public official travel expenses and festival budgets.

Boseong-gun, which has actively responded to blocking COVID-19 with the principle of overcoming any difficulties together with its residents, shows exemplary public administration by having public officials share the burden in the payment of emergency disaster living expenses.

In particular, by drastically reducing administrative operating expenses, large-scale pending projects such as expanding local infrastructure and enhancing residents’ leisure activities will proceed without disruption.

The recipients of the ‘Boseong-gun Emergency Disaster Living Expenses’ are about 40,000 residents who have an address in the county as of the payment reference date, the 20th (including marriage immigrants and permanent residents), and to revitalize the local economy stagnated by COVID-19, the payment will be made in the local currency, Boseong Sarang Gift Certificates.

From the 26th to the 30th, village officials will visit villages to conduct the first round of on-site payments, and from the 3rd to the 7th of next month, a reception desk will be operated at the township and town offices for households that have not yet received the payment, where immediate payment will be made on-site.

It will operate normally even on the Children’s Day holiday.

If receiving the disaster living expenses at the township or town office reception desk, residents must visit the township or town office that has jurisdiction over their address, and not only the head of the household but also one representative from the same household can receive the payment.

At this time, an ID card must be brought for recipient verification, and during the village visit on-site payment period (4.26.~30), the township and town office reception desks will not be operated.

Governor Kim Cheol-woo of Boseong-gun said, “Through this payment of Boseong-gun Emergency Disaster Living Expenses, I hope it will be a great comfort and strength to the residents who are struggling with COVID-19 during Family Month,” and added, “We will do our best to implement proactive quarantine measures and rapid vaccination until we overcome the COVID-19 crisis.”

Meanwhile, ▲ students enrolled in kindergartens, elementary, middle, and high schools in the jurisdiction will receive 100,000 KRW each in Boseong Sarang Gift Certificates through the Boseong-gun Scholarship Foundation at each school, and ▲ religious facilities active in Boseong-gun as of the 31st of last month can apply for living stabilization funds at the township or town office where they are located and will receive 500,000 KRW each in Boseong Sarang Gift Certificates.
