[Asia Economy Reporter Heo Midam] On the 20th, former Future United Party (now People Power Party) leader Hwang Kyo-ahn announced his return to political activities, prompting former Dongyang University professor Jin Joong-kwon to directly criticize, "Is there anyone else who can be patriotic just by doing nothing but zoning out besides him?"

On the same day, former professor Jin posted on his Facebook, criticizing Hwang's move by saying, "Why would you deliberately refuse that privilege?"

On the previous night, Hwang appeared on MBN's 'Pandora' and, when asked about his political comeback, replied, "I am envisioning the future direction of our country."

He added, "Isn't our country heading toward a period of division right now? I thought this should not continue. I am thinking that I need to play a role in taking care of the country, the people, and their livelihoods in some form."

Earlier, on the 5th of last month, he also hinted at a political comeback. On that day, Hwang wrote on his Facebook, "Having received great benefits from the country, I resolved that I should not just be zoning out like this."

He then targeted the Moon Jae-in administration, saying, "These days, some thieves are usurping sovereignty and trying to make the people slaves," and criticized, "They are committing all sorts of illegal and outrageous acts to seize power. They are a group that is corroding the Republic of Korea."
