When You Think of a 'Medical City'... 'MediCity Daegu' Wins 'Brand Award' for 7 Consecutive Years

Daegu City Wins Medical City Award for 7 Consecutive Years ... "Rising as Korea's Medical Mecca"

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Jae-ho] 'MediCity Daegu' won the Grand Prize in the Medical City category for the seventh consecutive year at the '2021 Korea Representative Brand Awards' ceremony held at the Shilla Hotel in Seoul on the afternoon of the 20th.

Daegu City attributed great significance to this as a result of establishing itself as the undisputed top medical city in Korea since designating the medical industry as a future growth engine in 2009.

Now in its 16th year, the 'Korea Representative Brand Awards' is a brand award selected by consumers who directly evaluate the best brands in Korea.

'MediCity Daegu' received high scores in all four evaluation categories: ▲ the medical city that first comes to mind (primary awareness) ▲ the city well known as a medical city (secondary awareness) ▲ the city experienced through media related to medical cities (marketing activities) ▲ the city considered the best medical city (brand preference).

Hong Eui-rak, Deputy Mayor for Economic Affairs of Daegu City, said, "Winning the Grand Prize in the medical city category for seven consecutive years is thanks to the efforts of local medical institutions and industry-academia-research cooperation," adding, "We will continue to strengthen cooperation among organizations and institutions to actively strive for 'MediCity Daegu' to leap forward as a globally recognized advanced medical city."

Meanwhile, the Daegu-Gyeongbuk Advanced Medical Complex and Medical R&D District, which play a key role in advancing as a medical industry city, have attracted 13 national institutions and 144 medical companies so far.

As of the end of 2020, 129 companies have completed moving into this complex. A survey of companies headquartered within the complex showed an average annual sales growth of over 14%, indicating that it is expected to continue to serve as a driving force for regional economic growth.
