Online Event Held for 100 Elementary School Students
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Heo Seon-sik] Gwangyang Hope Library announced on the 20th that it will hold an online quiz show, ‘Hope Reading Golden Bell,’ for 100 children in grades 4 to 6 of elementary schools in Gwangyang City on the 8th of next month.
‘Hope Reading Golden Bell’ is being held for the second time following last year, and was prepared to comfort the hearts of children who are having difficulties in daily life due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic and to provide a unique reading experience.
The event is divided into Part 1 team competition and Part 2 individual competition. The team competition is a group contest where participants are divided into 10 teams, and the team that quickly solves various problems such as icebreaking and escape room games by demonstrating teamwork wins.
The individual competition is the main event, the Reading Golden Bell, where participants solve 30 questions including quizzes on designated books and general knowledge about Gwangyang City and the library, and rankings are determined by total scores.
The designated reading quiz book is ‘5 Beon Lane’ (written by Eun So-hol / published by Munhakdongne), selected as the 2021 Gwangyang City Book of the Year in the children’s category, and 50% of the questions come from this book.
To encourage participants, cultural gift certificates worth 100,000 won, 50,000 won, and 30,000 won will be awarded to the top three scorers in the individual competition, respectively, and the winning team of the team competition will receive cultural gift certificates worth 100,000 won.
Elementary school students in grades 4 to 6 who wish to participate in the competition can apply through the Gwangyang City Library website or by phone.
Ko Geun-seong, Director of Library Operations, said, “I hope students who have had limited meetings with friends due to COVID-19 will participate in the event and have a joyful time with their friends,” and added, “We will operate various non-face-to-face events so that more children can be with books in their daily lives.”
