[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Gwanak-gu (Mayor Park Jun-hee) announced that traditional wedding ceremonies held at the "Gwanak-gu Traditional Outdoor Small Theater (Nakseongdae-ro 3-gil 45)" inside Nakseongdae Park have resumed starting this month.

The "Traditional Wedding Ceremony," operated by the Gwanak Cultural Center, has been held for over 550 couples since 2014, receiving great acclaim from grooms and brides dreaming of a special wedding.

It had been temporarily suspended due to COVID-19 and cold weather but has now resumed operations after reorganization with the arrival of spring.

At the traditional outdoor small theater located in Nakseongdae Park, which is blessed with the good energy of Gwanaksan Mountain and General Gang Gam-chan, beautiful trees and flowers blend harmoniously, and traditional weddings are held accompanied by lively pungmul (traditional Korean percussion music).

The traditional wedding ceremony is conducted in strict compliance with COVID-19 prevention guidelines by a professionally trained officiant and assistant, proceeding in order through Jeonanrye, Gyobaerye, Hapgeunnye, and Pyebaek. The courtyard serves as the wedding venue, and the main hanok building is used as the Pyebaek room and bride’s waiting room.

The basic cost, including the Choryecheong attire and wedding ceremony proceedings, is 1.3 million KRW, while congratulatory performances, beauty services, Pyebaek, and food are optional.

For more detailed information or reservations regarding the traditional wedding ceremony, inquiries can be made through the Gwanak Cultural Etiquette Center website or by contacting the person in charge by phone.

Mayor Park Jun-hee said, “Marriage is a great event in human relations and the source of all blessings. Since ancient times, our traditional wedding ceremonies have been regarded as the starting point of human relations, taking the first step as members of the social community. I hope that the traditional wedding ceremony, full of our old charm, will become a meaningful memory for both the wedding parties and the guests.”
