KB Financial "Promoting ESG Management through P4G Seoul Summit"

[Asia Economy Reporter Sunmi Park] KB Financial Group announced on the 20th that it will sign a business agreement with Yeo Yeon-cheol, head of the P4G Seoul Summit Planning Team, to support the successful hosting of the ‘2021 P4G Seoul Summit’ and to realize the vision of carbon neutrality through inclusive green recovery.

P4G is a global initiative to respond to climate change, involving 12 middle-power countries from each continent including Korea, Denmark, South Africa, and Mexico, as well as international organizations and private companies. The ‘2021 P4G Seoul Summit’ is the first multilateral summit in the environmental sector held in Korea this year, the first year of implementing the Paris Agreement and 2050 carbon neutrality. From May 30 to 31, leaders from the 12 P4G countries will participate virtually to discuss ways to overcome the climate crisis and promote green recovery.

Through this agreement, KB Financial will promote various activities such as broadcasting promotional videos and online channel campaigns to raise public understanding and interest in the ‘2021 P4G Seoul Summit,’ and will also widely publicize KB Financial’s eco-friendly and ESG (environment, social, governance) policies worldwide. A KB Financial official said, “The hosting of the first multilateral environmental summit in Korea, the first year of the Paris Agreement implementation, will be an opportunity for Korea to leap forward as a leading country in climate response,” adding, “KB Financial will also do its best to cooperate as a private company.”

Meanwhile, KB Financial Group is strengthening its position as a leading ESG company by implementing the ESG management mid- to long-term roadmap ‘KB Green Wave 2030,’ practiced by all affiliates including KB Kookmin Bank, aiming to reduce carbon emissions by 25% by 2030 and expand ESG products, investments, and loans to 50 trillion won.
