[Asia Economy Reporter Dongwoo Lee] Air Busan announced on the 20th that starting next month, it will operate non-landing international sightseeing flights from Gimhae and Gimpo International Airports as well.
Air Busan will begin its first flight from Gimhae Airport on the 1st of next month and operate a total of 7 flights throughout May. From Gimpo Airport, the first flight will start on the 5th of next month, with a total of 6 flights planned. Additionally, the airline has been allocated 4 flights from Incheon Airport, where it already operates, making a total of 17 non-landing international sightseeing flights next month.
This operation from regional airports is expected to improve convenience for local residents to use the non-landing sightseeing flights. Since these are international flights, passengers can purchase duty-free goods onboard the aircraft, at airport duty-free shops, and downtown duty-free shops.
The non-landing international sightseeing flight departing from Gimhae Airport follows a 1 hour and 30 minute route returning to Gimhae Airport after flying over Tsushima Island → Nagasaki → Saga → Kagoshima, offering the advantage of viewing the western Kyushu region of Japan from the air. The non-landing sightseeing flights departing from Incheon and Gimpo Airports operate on a 2-hour route departing from Incheon (Gimpo), flying over Daegu → Busan → Tsushima Island, and then returning.
To commemorate the first flight from Gimhae Airport, Air Busan will sell special discounted tickets next month starting at a total fare of 119,000 KRW for two people. For single purchases, tickets start at 82,400 KRW. Flights from Gimpo and Incheon Airports are available from a total fare of 89,000 KRW per person.
Onboard, various prizes such as free round-trip domestic flight tickets and Air Busan model airplanes will be given through events like lucky draws, enhancing the enjoyment of duty-free shopping. Air Busan’s online onboard duty-free shop offers discounts of up to 70% on selected products.
Onboard duty-free products cannot be ordered on-site and must be pre-ordered through the online onboard duty-free shop. Passengers are required to carry their passports.
An Air Busan official said, “We hope that residents of the Busan area will quench their travel thirst through this non-landing international sightseeing flight.”
