[Asia Economy Reporter Kang Juhee] Less than a month after the incident where a mother and her two daughters were murdered in an apartment in Nowon-gu, Seoul, a man in his 20s was arrested by the police in Ansan, Gyeonggi Province for stabbing a female coworker multiple times with a weapon. The man is known to have persistently followed the victim, raising the possibility of a 'stalking crime.'


According to the Ansan Danwon Police Station on the 19th, Mr. A is being investigated on suspicion of attempted murder for stabbing his female coworker B (30) multiple times with a weapon.


Mr. A is accused of wildly swinging a weapon at Ms. B in front of a multi-family house in Seonbu-dong, Danwon-gu, Ansan City, where Ms. B lives, around 6:30 p.m. on the 18th.


It was investigated that Mr. A waited in front of the house that day and committed the crime when Ms. B came out of the house to go out.


After the crime, Mr. A fled in a rental car he had used and was caught by the police at his home in Siheung City around 1:30 a.m. on the 19th.


Ms. B was immediately taken to the hospital but is reported to be in critical condition with severe injuries to her neck and face.


Mr. A and Ms. B are colleagues working at the same workplace, and Mr. A is known to have continuously expressed his affection toward Ms. B.


During the police investigation, Mr. A reportedly stated that he had planned to kill the victim and went to her intentionally.


The police are investigating the detailed motive behind Mr. A's crime. Additionally, based on surrounding testimonies, they are also investigating whether Mr. A had been stalking Ms. B regularly.
