Lotte Duty Free to Hold the 31st Family Concert on May 16

Collaboration with CJ ENM… "Showcasing the Highest Level of Contactless Concert Using Metaverse Technology"

[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Yuri] Lotte Duty Free announced on the 20th that it will hold the '31st Lotte Duty Free Online Family Concert' on May 16. On the same day, it released a teaser video for the 'Lotte Duty Free Family Concert' through its official SNS channels, and like last year, the event will be held contactlessly.

This family concert will feature a dazzling lineup of top domestic artists including Super Junior-D&E, BTS, TWICE, ITZY, and TOMORROW X TOGETHER. Super Junior's Shindong will serve as the special stage MC.

Lotte Duty Free stated that the concert will be held under the slogan 'Meet the green vibes, Greet the duty free life.' This means 'If we want to protect our travels, we must first protect our planet.' It reflects Lotte Duty Free's commitment to ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) management and conveys comfort to people worldwide exhausted by COVID-19.

Following last year, the online family concert will be pre-recorded and translated into six languages: Korean, English, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, and Vietnamese. In collaboration with CJ ENM, Lotte Duty Free applied 'Metaverse Entertech' using augmented reality (AR) and extended reality (XR) technologies to this concert. The virtual stage will be vividly designed to feel like reality, overcoming the limitations of contactless concerts and providing the best experience.

Any Lotte Duty Free customer can watch the online family concert. By signing up or logging in to the Lotte Internet Duty Free website and entering an email on the event page, registration is complete. Then, using the admission code sent via email from Lotte Duty Free, viewers can enter at 5 PM on May 16 to watch the performance. This year, the concert will also be streamed through 'TikTok,' a global short-form mobile video platform popular among the MZ generation.

To commemorate the event, a customer participation event has been prepared. Capture the 'virtual airline ticket' image of the performing artists released on Lotte Duty Free’s official SNS and upload it to your personal Instagram or Twitter with the required hashtags (#Familyconcert, #Duty4Earth, #LotteDutyFree). One hundred winners will be selected by lottery to receive eco-friendly upcycled film cameras as prizes.

Lee Gap, CEO of Lotte Duty Free, said, "We prepared the 31st family concert with hopes for recovery from COVID-19 and Lotte Duty Free’s commitment to eco-friendly management. We hope this performance, representing K-culture, warmly reaches customers worldwide."

The Lotte Duty Free Family Concert has been held annually since 2006. To date, about one million domestic and international visitors have attended the concert in person. Since last year, due to COVID-19, it has been held online. The 30th Lotte Duty Free Family Concert held in September last year recorded a peak simultaneous viewership of 550,000 and a total of 2.2 million views. It also attracted 900,000 new members to the Lotte Internet Duty Free website.
