[Asia Economy Reporter Minji Lee] The KOSPI continues its upward trend amid ongoing net buying by individual investors.


As of 9:13 a.m. on the 21st, the KOSPI stood at 3,202.77, up 0.12% (3.93 points) from the previous trading day. The KOSPI opened at 3,198.31, down 0.02% (0.53 points) from the previous day. Looking at investment trends, individuals are the sole buyers. Individuals purchased stocks worth 55.3 billion KRW, while foreigners and institutions sold stocks worth 11.7 billion KRW and 41.4 billion KRW, respectively.


Among the top market capitalization stocks, Samsung Electronics rose 0.36% to 83,600 KRW compared to the previous day. NAVER (0.13%), LG Chem (1.14%), Samsung Biologics (1.08%), and Kakao (0.42%) increased, while SK Hynix (-0.72%) and Celltrion (-0.65%) declined.


At the same time, the KOSDAQ index stood at 1,028.00, down 0.14% (1.46 points) from the previous trading day. The KOSDAQ opened at 1,029.18, down 0.03% (0.28 points) from the previous day, continuing its downward trend.


Regarding investment trends, individuals alone bought stocks worth 55.5 billion KRW, while foreigners and institutions sold stocks worth 43.1 billion KRW and 6.8 billion KRW, respectively.


Most market capitalization stocks declined. Celltrion Healthcare (-1.19%), Celltrion Pharm (-1.37%), Seegene (-0.67%), Pearl Abyss (-1.61%), Kakao Games (-0.69%), EcoPro BM (-0.48%), and Alteogen (-0.43%) all fell.


Seosangyoung, a researcher at Mirae Asset Securities, explained, “There is a high possibility of selling pressure on semiconductor-related stocks in the domestic market, but other sectors are likely to see improved supply and demand. The domestic market is expected to undergo a process of absorbing selling pressure after showing limited declines.”
