[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Jae-ho] In Gyeongsangbuk-do, 21 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 were added on the 19th due to a cluster infection at the LG Display production plant in Gumi.

According to Gyeongbuk Province on the 20th, as of midnight, the cumulative number of confirmed cases in the Gyeongbuk area increased by 21 (including 1 imported case) from the previous day to 3,864 (including 99 imported cases).

The new confirmed cases by region are 10 in Gumi City, 8 in Gyeongsan City (including 1 imported case), 2 in Pohang City, and 1 in Yeongcheon City.

All 10 new confirmed cases in Gumi City are related to the LG Display production plant in Gumi. Eight are employees, and two are family members of an employee (Gumi case number 474). Following one confirmed case at the plant the previous day, a series of infections occurred on this day.

As a student attending a high school in Gumi was confirmed positive among the family members, about 40 close contacts underwent COVID-19 testing. Additionally, around 700 factory employees have been tested or are scheduled to be tested, so there is a high possibility of additional confirmed cases.

Among the 8 new confirmed cases in Gyeongsan City, 6 are contacts of previously confirmed cases, 1 has an unknown infection route, and the remaining 1 is an imported case.

Among the 2 new confirmed cases in Pohang City, one was a contact of Pohang case number 541 confirmed on the 5th and tested positive before release from self-quarantine, and the other was a contact of a confirmed case in Ulsan. In Yeongcheon City, one contact of Gyeongju case number 247 confirmed on the 5th was diagnosed positive.

In Gyeongsangbuk-do, 147 people (excluding imported cases) tested positive across the region in the past week, resulting in a weekly daily average of 21.0 confirmed cases. Currently, 2,062 people are under self-quarantine.
