Decades of Experience Donated After Retirement!... Inauguration Ceremony on the 21st... Retired Professionals Including Teachers and Nurses Participate
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Songpa-gu (Mayor Park Seong-su) is launching the "Malbeot Activity Group" project, where middle-aged and older adults share decades of experience gained in their main careers with the local community through social contribution activities after retirement.
The district reported that the population aged 65 and over is 94,000, accounting for 14% of the total residents, and about 17% of them are classified as "frail elderly," whose health is vulnerable but not poor enough to qualify for long-term care insurance, thus not receiving welfare benefits.
Furthermore, with the increasing population of middle-aged and older adults (aged 50 to under 70), considering the reality that their accumulated careers and expertise are not utilized after retirement, the "Seoul Leading 50+ Malbeot Activity Group Project (Malbeot Activity Group)" has been initiated.
The "Malbeot Activity Group" provides preventive care and supports emotional stability and recovery through regular care for frail elderly in the community. It is a job project that supports middle-aged retirees with expertise and experience to participate in talent donation activities.
To this end, the district selected 50 participants aged 50 and over with separate certifications and related experience such as teachers, nurses, and social workers in early April.
The "Malbeot Activity Group" will hold its launch ceremony and begin activities at 10:30 AM on the 21st in the district office auditorium.
They will participate in activities such as ▲ health monitoring ▲ reading books aloud ▲ providing companionship and checking on the elderly ▲ producing educational materials like letter books and audiobooks to improve the emotional and cognitive functions of the elderly.
Each participant will manage two elderly individuals, and activities will be conducted face-to-face or non-face-to-face depending on the infectious disease situation. Participants will receive a small activity allowance.
Park Seong-su, Mayor of Songpa-gu, said, "We expect that the participation of middle-aged adults with professional knowledge will greatly help to complement the welfare blind spots in the community," adding, "We will continue to discover various job projects so that middle-aged retirees can share their knowledge and experience, support their second act in life, and actively respond to aging issues."
Meanwhile, as part of creating jobs for middle-aged adults, the district is promoting the "Seoul Leading 50+ Hope Job Consultant" project. Six middle-aged job consultants have been hired to provide employment support services specialized for middle-aged and older adults, striving to discover customized jobs for the rapidly increasing middle-aged population.
