[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Kim Yong-woo] The architectural design for the Dongam Port New Deal Project in Gijang-gun, Busan will be conducted through a 'proposal contest' method.
Gijang-gun and the Korea Fisheries Infrastructure Public Corporation announced on the 20th that the 'architectural design proposal contest' for the 'Busan Gijang-gun Dongam Port Fishing Village New Deal Project' will begin on the 21st.
Dongam Port in Gijang-gun was selected as a target site in the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries' Fishing Village New Deal Project competition. From 2019 to 2021, the project includes △ creation of a Seafood Zone △ establishment of a tourism hub through a resident community complex project △ attraction of visitors by securing a differentiated and attractive waterfront space △ introduction of resident community functions.
In the Sirang-ri area of Gijang-eup, the project will be intensified by investing 1.606 billion KRW for construction costs and 84.37 million KRW for design fees to build a Seafood Zone with a total floor area of 410㎡, remodel the Dongam Haenyeo Welfare Center, and renovate the interior of the Dongam Village Hall.
This design contest is open without regional restrictions, and the Korea Fisheries Infrastructure Public Corporation's public architecture review committee will select the outstanding proposals and decide the winning entry.
The winner will be granted the design rights and the right to implement the design intent. Additionally, prize money will be awarded differentially to other winners.
To encourage participation from excellent architects both domestically and internationally, submission documents have been simplified to expect outstanding entries.
The on-site briefing session for the design contest was omitted due to COVID-19. After registration on April 21, proposal presentations and evaluations will be conducted, and the results will be announced on May 14.
Detailed information about this design contest can be found in the notices section on the Korea Fisheries Infrastructure Public Corporation website.
