[Asia Economy Reporter Junhyung Lee] The Seoul Metropolitan Government announced that the number of new COVID-19 cases reported in Seoul from midnight to 9 p.m. on the 19th was provisionally counted at 140.
This is 8 more cases than the 132 reported during the same period on the previous day (the 18th). It is 11 fewer than the 151 cases reported last Monday (the 12th). The total number of cases for the entire day was 137 on the 18th and 158 on the 12th.
The daily number of confirmed cases in Seoul rose to 244 on the 7th of this month and then remained in the 200s for nine days until the 17th, except for two days (the 11th and 12th). The drop to the 100s on the 18th and 19th, following the 11th and 12th, appears to be due to a decrease in the number of tests conducted over the weekend.
The number of tests conducted in Seoul decreased from 37,157 on Friday the 16th to 22,271 on Saturday the 17th, and further down to 17,534 on Sunday the 18th. Test results are generally released the following day.
As of 9 p.m. on the 19th, the cumulative number of confirmed cases in Seoul stands at 35,768.
