Until July 31, 'Spring Days, Sending Regards'... Diverse Video Content Centered on May Diary
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Yoon Jamin] The National 5·18 Democratic Cemetery Management Office (Director Yoo Hyungseon) announced on the 19th that it will hold a special exhibition titled "Spring Days, Sending Regards" until July 31.
The exhibition, held on the 3rd floor of the National 5·18 Democratic Cemetery Memorial Hall, is centered on the "May Diary," one of the records registered to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the UNESCO Memory of the World.
The exhibition restores the meaning of May 1980 by utilizing various video contents based on the diary.
The records from the May 18 Democratic Movement, which documented an individual's daily life, fear, and anxiety, are realized in the form of sculptures that structure collective memory, highlighting the global historical value of these records.
The exhibition is open daily from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. free of charge. For inquiries, please contact the National 5·18 Democratic Cemetery.
Yoo Hyungseon, Director of the National 5·18 Democratic Cemetery Management Office, said, "Through this exhibition, we will restore the meaning of the 5·18 records," adding, "As a national cemetery open to all citizens, we will continue to strive to commemorate and remember those who sacrificed for democracy."
