[Asia Economy Reporter Park Byung-hee] Amazon has canceled its plan to produce a 'Lord of the Rings' game.

According to Bloomberg News, Amazon had been developing the Lord of the Rings game with the Chinese game company Liu Technology. However, after Tencent acquired Liu in December last year, Amazon and Tencent had conflicts over the game's production, ultimately leading to the cancellation of the development plan.

An Amazon spokesperson said, "After Tencent acquired Liu, at this point, we have not been able to secure the conditions to continue game development."

Amazon stated that the personnel involved in the game development will be assigned to other projects.

The struggling Amazon game division has encountered another setback.

Amazon established its game studio in 2014 but has yet to produce a notable hit.

Previously, it canceled game development plans for titles such as 'Breakaway' and 'Crucible,' and its ambitious project 'New World' continues to face release delays.
