[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Soyoung] Former People Power Party lawmaker Yoo Seung-min marked the 61st anniversary of the April 19 Revolution by sharply criticizing, "On the day of the April 19 Revolution, the Moon Jae-in administration must sincerely reflect on its tyranny that has set democracy back over the past four years."
On the 19th, Yoo posted on his Facebook under the title "On the April 19 Revolution Anniversary, the Moon Jae-in Administration Must Reflect on Its Anti-Democratic Tyranny," expressing these views.
He said, "The preamble of our Constitution refers to the 'April 19 democratic ideals that resisted injustice,'" adding, "This means that Article 1 of the Constitution, which defines the democratic republic and popular sovereignty, embodies the ideals of the April 19 Revolution."
He continued, "Following the February 28 Daegu Democratization Movement in 1960 and the March 15 Masan Uprising, the April 19 Revolution is a history of sacrifice where citizens and students shed blood for the great cause of anti-dictatorship democracy," emphasizing, "We must never forget that today's democracy was made possible thanks to the noble sacrifices of our predecessors."
He further asserted, "Especially, the 586 faction, who monopolized the democratization movement as their own possession and sold democracy, must be punished commensurately for their crimes that set democracy back."
Yoo also strongly criticized, "As Professor Kang Joon-man pointed out that 'the Moon Jae-in administration is a rice bowl community,' this administration, as a fake progressive blinded by blind partisanship, was nothing but exclusive tribalism rather than democracy, which has been revealed to the whole world," adding, "They betrayed the hopes of citizens ignited during the candlelight protests in the winter of 2016."
Finally, Yoo expressed his aspiration, saying, "I will innovate today's politics while thinking of the true democratic republic that the democracy fighters who fell during the April 19 Revolution wanted to create."
