KOSDAQ Rises About 1%
[Asia Economy Reporter Minwoo Lee] The KOSPI, which briefly dropped to the 3100 level in the morning, is maintaining a level above 3200. While foreigners are the sole net sellers, individuals and institutions are accumulating shares.
As of 1:36 PM on the 19th, the KOSPI recorded 3208.22, up 0.30% (9.60 points) from the previous trading day. After a firm start at 3201.11, it faltered as it dropped to the 3100 level but soon recovered above the 3200 mark.
Foreigners, who had shown net buying for four consecutive trading days, sold a net 84.7 billion KRW, while institutions, who were selling in the morning, turned to net buying, purchasing 11.2 billion KRW worth of shares. Individuals were net buyers with 126 billion KRW.
Almost all sectors are on the rise. The pharmaceutical sector showed the largest increase at 2.44%, followed by transportation and warehousing (1.58%), steel and metals (1.49%), and medical precision instruments (0.96%). Securities (-0.81%) and paper and wood (-0.35%) declined.
Among the top 10 market capitalization stocks, Samsung Biologics showed the largest gain at 3.37%, followed by Celltrion (1.46%) and Kakao (0.84%). LG Chem (-0.89%), Samsung SDI (-0.86%), and Samsung Electronics (-0.48%) fell.
The KOSDAQ is also on the rise. At the same time, it was up 0.98% (10.00 points) from the previous trading day, reaching 1031.62. After opening at 1022.06, it showed a steady upward trend.
In the morning, individuals were the sole net buyers, but in the afternoon, they switched to net selling with 54.5 billion KRW. Meanwhile, foreigners and institutions were net buyers, purchasing 75.8 billion KRW and 17.1 billion KRW respectively.
Most sectors are rising. The semiconductor sector showed the largest increase at 4.13%, followed by IT hardware (2.62%), machinery and equipment (1.55%), and distribution (1.44%). Entertainment and culture (-1.12%), finance (-0.94%), and transportation equipment and parts (-0.66%) declined.
Most of the top 10 market capitalization stocks rose. Seegene showed the largest gain at 6.18%, followed by Celltrion Pharm (2.44%), Celltrion Healthcare (2.26%), EcoPro BM (1.62%), and SK Materials (1.46%). HL Biopharma (-1.42%) and Alteogen (-0.22%) declined.
