Applications until June 30, Targeting Street Vendors Verifiable by Local Governments for Road Occupancy Permits and Business Registration
[Damyang=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Chunsu] Damyang-gun, Jeollanam-do announced on the 19th that it will accept applications for income stabilization support funds until June 30 to support street vendors whose sales have decreased due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic.
The support targets street vendors who have been operating since before January of this year but were not registered as business operators, and who applied for business registration after March 1 of this year. These vendors must be verifiable by local governments through road occupancy permits, business reports under the Food Sanitation Act, or confirmation of business operations by traditional market and shopping district merchant associations.
Street vendors located on roads outside the market are not eligible for support due to difficulties in verifying continuous operation, and vendors violating related laws such as the Road Act and Food Sanitation Act are also excluded from support.
The support amount is 500,000 KRW per person. Applicants must bring an application form, resident registration abstract, business registration certificate, and a street vendor confirmation issued by the merchant association, and apply in person at the grassroots economy department of the county office or the town and township offices.
Applicants residing outside Damyang-gun should submit their applications to the city, county, or district office of their registered residence.
The county plans to send official letters to towns, townships, and merchant associations and directly promote the program to street vendors operating in traditional markets to ensure more vendors can benefit.
A county official stated, “We expect this support to contribute not only to the management and livelihood stabilization of unregistered small business owners struggling due to COVID-19 but also to resolving policy blind spots excluded from government support.”
