Professor Seo confirmed through the study titled 'Analysis of Risk Factors Related to Environmental Contamination by SARS-CoV-2 Around COVID-19 Patients' that the concentration of the SARS-CoV-2 virus in the respiratory tract of COVID-19 confirmed patients is high, and that the shorter the period from the onset of COVID-19 related symptoms to the collection of environmental samples, the higher the risk of surrounding environmental contamination.
Based on these research results, he received high praise for demonstrating that thorough disinfection of frequently touched items by confirmed patients and moist areas such as sinks, along with strict adherence to contact precautions, can block and prevent the transmission of the causative virus.
Professor Seo expressed his award acceptance remarks, saying, "I will continue to devote myself to research and treatment as an infectious disease specialist to contribute to academic development and the promotion of public health."
