In a Hypothetical Quantum Matchup, Yoon Seok-yeol's Approval Rating Exceeds Half

[Asia Economy Reporter Oh Ju-yeon] A public opinion poll showed that former Prosecutor General Yoon Seok-yeol had the highest support rate among next presidential candidates. In the hypothetical one-on-one matchups, the percentage of respondents who said they would vote for former Prosecutor General Yoon also exceeded half.

According to Realmeter's announcement on the 19th, based on a survey commissioned by YTN's 'The News' on the 16th to assess the competitiveness of next presidential candidates, former Prosecutor General Yoon received the highest support at 37.2%. Gyeonggi Province Governor Lee Jae-myung ranked second with 21.0%, and former Democratic Party leader Lee Nak-yeon came in third with 11.0%. Following them were Hong Joon-pyo (5.9%), Ahn Cheol-soo (5.0%), Yoo Si-min (3.2%), and Choo Mi-ae (2.4%).


Former Prime Minister Chung Sye-kyun, who stepped down from his position on the 16th cabinet reshuffle and received his first score as a presidential candidate, showed a support rate of 2.4%. Next were Yoo Seung-min (2.2%), Sim Sang-jung (1.7%), Won Hee-ryong (1.0%), and Lim Jong-seok (0.7%). Others accounted for 1.1%, and undecided voters made up 5.3% (no preference 2.4%, don't know 2.9%).


In the hypothetical one-on-one matchups, former Prosecutor General Yoon received support from more than half of the respondents.


In the one-on-one matchup between former Prosecutor General Yoon and Governor Lee, 51.1% said they would vote for Yoon, while Lee received 32.3%, showing a gap of 18.8 percentage points. Undecided voters accounted for 16.6% (no preference 11.9%, don't know 4.7%).


In the matchup against former leader Lee Nak-yeon, former Prosecutor General Yoon received 51.6%, and Lee Nak-yeon 30.1%, with a gap of 21.5 percentage points. Undecided voters were 18.4% (no preference 13.0%, don't know 5.4%).


This survey contacted 28,750 voters aged 18 and over nationwide, with a final 1,011 respondents completing the survey, resulting in a response rate of 3.5%. The sampling error is ±3.1 percentage points at a 95% confidence level. The survey was conducted via random digit dialing (RDD) automated response method using a sampling frame of 90% mobile and 10% landline phones.
