On the 19th, Kakao Japan announced the launch of Studio OnePick's website, initiating communication with creators who wish to collaborate with Japan's top manga app, 'Piccoma.'
Studio OnePick, Kakao Japan's webtoon content production studio, was established in February. The company name signifies producing content that receives readers' 'OnePick (1Pick).'
Kakao Japan plans to create synergy between Korean and Japanese content through 'Sherpa Studio,' established in Japan with Daewon Media's subsidiary StoryJak, and nurture it as a cradle for original content.
Studio OnePick is led by CEO Kim Hyun-joo, former editor-in-chief of 'IQ Jump,' along with webtoon and web novel planning experts and active webtoon adaptation writers. They produce content for serialization on 'Piccoma' as well as for global expansion.
Studio OnePick plans to create competitive webtoon content by combining Japan's excellent intellectual property (IP) from the world's largest manga market with Korea's production know-how leading the global webtoon market.
