‘Selection Project’ Provides Various Programs in Collaboration with Local Educational Institutions... ‘Deohada? Project’ Autonomous Project Planned and Led by Youth Themselves
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Eunpyeong-gu (Mayor Kim Mi-kyung) is launching the '2021 Eunpyeong Youth Village School,' a pledge project of the 7th local government administration.
The 'Eunpyeong Youth Village School' is a village alternative school where youth can experience and imagine various activities. It offers a 'Youth Choice Project' that provides diverse programs in collaboration with various local institutions, and a 'Self-Directed Project' planned and executed directly by the youth.
The 'Youth Choice Project' allows youth to select desired courses and participate in projects conducted with local experts. It consists of four village schools, including the Future Innovation School preparing for the 4th Industrial Revolution, and 13 diverse courses.
Looking into the details, the 'Future Innovation School' includes four courses: drones, Internet of Things, 3D printing, and AI robots. Each course consists of eight sessions, providing in-depth projects rather than simple one-time experiences.
The 'Ecological Transition School' offers courses on climate crisis, resource circulation, and other essential environmental topics that have been overlooked until now.
The 'Life Skills School' includes courses such as 'Making My Own Bicycle' using abandoned bicycles and 'Everyday Woodworking,' teaching practical life skills.
The 'Urban Agriculture School' allows participants to learn beekeeping and urban gardening at the 'Hyangnim Urban Agriculture Experience Center,' a pride of Eunpyeong-gu.
The 'Youth-Led Project' is a 'Self-Directed Project' where youth freely imagine and challenge themselves. Named the 'Deohada?' (meaning 'Add More?') project, it signifies adding newness to daily life and adding value to the local community.
This program enables youth to freely plan and execute ideas that find newness and value in their repetitive daily lives represented by home, school, and academies. It proceeds through ▲orientation ▲project planning ▲sharing plans ▲project implementation ▲project presentation, and is held at the Galhyeon Youth Center 'Shimsim.'
Along with this, the district plans to form a 'Public-Private-Academic Village School Operation Council' composed of youth, parents, scholarship officers, and education experts to gather diverse opinions and manage project direction and evaluation.
Kim Mi-kyung, Mayor of Eunpyeong-gu, said, "Youth is an important period to prepare for the future in society. Therefore, we plan to promote the project in a direction that covers alternative education not available in schools and topics that youth want and need. We will continuously listen to the voices of youth and ensure this project adds value during this precious time."
