[Asia Economy Reporter Kum Boryeong] Jeon Hye-sook, a member of the Democratic Party of Korea, officially announced her candidacy for the Supreme Council member position in the May 2 party convention.
The three-term lawmaker held a press conference at the National Assembly on the 18th and stated, "I will dedicate myself to party unity, innovation, and the reestablishment of the administration."
Jeon emphasized, "If I become a Supreme Council member, I will start with a major shift in real estate policy." She is classified as part of the Lee Nak-yeon faction within the Democratic Party.
She continued, "We must reflect on the historic significance of the 174 seats entrusted to us by the people," and stressed, "We must unwaveringly complete the reform legislation that the people desire."
Jeon also said, "I will definitely implement 30% female candidate quotas," and added, "I will open an era of female political prominence."
