[Asia Economy Reporter Kum Bo-ryeong] Yoon Ho-jung, the floor leader of the Democratic Party of Korea and emergency committee chairman, emphasized that "the party, government, and Blue House are working as one to overcome the crisis."

On the 18th, at the preliminary primary held at the Democratic Party headquarters in Yeouido, Seoul, to select the party representative candidate, Yoon said, "The cabinet has been newly reorganized, and the party floor leadership is also in place. Now, the last step remaining is the election of the party leadership." On the 16th, President Moon Jae-in nominated former Minister of the Interior and Safety Kim Boo-kyum as the prime minister candidate and reshuffled five ministries.

Regarding the May 2nd party convention to elect the party representative and supreme council members, Yoon emphasized, "This is a reform convention to show the renewed image of the Democratic Party," adding, "We must make the convention a success and use it as an opportunity to become a competent reform party and a detailed policy party."

He also explained, "The emergency committee will proceed with the attitude of 호시우보 (虎視牛步, 'tiger's gaze and ox's pace'). We will keenly observe public sentiment like a tiger's eyes and steadfastly pursue change and innovation like an ox," adding, "Based on self-reflection, we will restore the Democratic Party's values of livelihood policies, reform tasks, fairness and livelihood, and peace."

Yoon, who was elected as the new floor leader on the 16th, will serve as the emergency committee chairman until the new party representative is elected on the 2nd of next month.
