[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jun-yi] The People Power Party criticized President Moon Jae-in for accepting the resignations of former Prime Minister Chung Sye-kyun and former Minister of Land, Infrastructure and Transport Byun Chang-heum ahead of the National Assembly's interpellation session. At the same time, Won Hee-ryong, governor of Jeju Province and an opposition presidential candidate, pointed out the current situation and harshly criticized Kim Boo-kyum, former Minister of the Interior and Safety and nominee for Prime Minister.

Hwang Gyu-hwan, the full-time deputy spokesperson of the People Power Party, stated in a commentary on the 18th, "Although it is the natural duty of public officials to fulfill their responsibilities until their successors pass the confirmation hearing and are appointed, former Prime Minister Chung and former Minister Byun abruptly resigned on the 16th and even held a secret farewell ceremony in a rush."

He added, "This is unprecedented irresponsibility toward the people and a disregard for the legislature," and pointed out, "No matter how much the acting system is maintained, an administrative vacuum is inevitable, and the damage will fall entirely on the people."

He criticized President Moon, saying, "Instead of reprimanding the two, the president accepted their resignations and even offered kind words asking them to 'serve the country and the people,' which is also irresponsible and shows a complete disregard for the people."

Won Hee-ryong, an opposition presidential candidate, also said on Facebook that day, "The country is in crisis due to the vaccine chaos, the confirmation hearing and approval process for the successor prime minister have not even started, but the prime minister has left, and the acting system is in place," adding, "The acting person might also be replaced after the new prime minister's confirmation hearing ends."

Won continued, addressing former Minister Kim, "I am worried about the country and also about my brother Boo-kyum, who persuaded me to enter politics, so I am writing after a long time," and said, "Brother, demand what you need to before the prime minister's confirmation hearing." He also asked whether Kim has the confidence to revise the policy direction at the end of the Moon administration and whether he can break the angry politics of the 'Ddaekae-moon' (hardcore Moon Jae-in supporters).

Finally, Won strongly criticized, "If you do not have such confidence, then throw in the towel before the confirmation hearing."
