[Sejong=Asia Economy Reporter Kwon Haeyoung] The government will hold a meeting of related ministers this week to discuss real estate measures.

The government will hold a real estate market inspection meeting of related ministers chaired by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Strategy and Finance Hong Nam-ki on the 21st. The real estate market, which has been stirred again by expectations of easing reconstruction regulations following the inauguration of Seoul Mayor Oh Se-hoon, is a major concern. The increase rate of apartment prices in Seoul in the second week of April expanded again after 10 weeks (0.07%, +0.02 percentage points compared to the previous week). Attention is focused on what agreement the government and Seoul city will reach regarding reconstruction regulations.

The Bank of Korea will announce the 'March Producer Price Index' on the 21st. Previously, the February Producer Price Index (provisional figure 105.85) rose 0.8% compared to January, showing an upward trend for four consecutive months since last November. Agricultural products (5.1%) and livestock products (2.0%) rose significantly due to cold waves and avian influenza (AI), and the rise in international oil prices also had an impact. With the strong oil prices continuing, attention is focused on whether producer prices rose for the fifth consecutive month in March as well.

The Korea Development Institute (KDI) will release a report on the 20th titled 'Improvement Measures for Public Enterprise Debt and Public Bonds Issues.' Attention is focused on whether the current status of increased public enterprise debt after the COVID-19 crisis and solutions will be presented. On the 22nd, it will release a report titled 'Characteristics of Female Employment in the COVID-19 Crisis Situation,' revealing the current status of female employment after the COVID-19 crisis.
