Selected for the 2021 Ministry of Employment and Labor Regional and Industry Customized Youth Job Creation Support Project... Recruiting 25 youth aged 19 to 34, 4-month training and employment/startup support... Strengthening capabilities as a game PD through a 3-step process: game planning, development project, and demo day
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Seocho-gu District Office (Mayor Eunhee Jo) will open the ‘Game PD Youth Employment Course’ to support employment in the game industry sector over a total of four months from May to August.
The ‘Game PD Youth Employment Course,’ conducted under an agreement with the Ministry of Employment and Labor as part of the ‘2021 Regional and Industry Customized Job Creation Support Project,’ is Seocho-gu’s representative 4th Industrial Revolution youth employment support program that connects graduates to demand companies after training.
The ‘Game PD Youth Employment Course’ will select 25 Seocho-gu residents aged 19 to 34 who wish to work in game-related jobs by May 2.
This course aims to cultivate professional personnel capable of planning and producing overall aspects of games, including game stories, content, and game engines.
The selection process is conducted in two stages.
The first stage considers motivation for application, possession of certificates, and previous job experience for selection, and the second stage involves a joint interview with partner companies to comprehensively assess applicants’ aptitude and employment willingness to select the final successful candidates.
The training course runs from May 3 for four months (500 hours), held five days a week (Monday to Friday) from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
The course consists of three stages: game planning, development projects, and demo day.
The first stage is the game planning phase, where the game concept, skills, characters, and systems to be used in game production are determined.
The second stage is a practice-oriented team project development phase that covers the graphics field, which determines the quality of the game.
The third stage is a portfolio creation and evaluation process where participants produce a game from start to finish through a team project and review their capabilities and training outcomes.
The game portfolios and demo games produced through these theoretical and practical courses are expected to play a decisive role in employment and entrepreneurship in the game industry sector, providing not only skill enhancement but also practical assistance.
Tuition fees are fully supported, and transportation and meal expenses of 200,000 KRW per month are provided.
After completing the course, internship connections are supported to help outstanding students find employment.
Applications can be submitted by phone or through the Ministry of Employment and Labor’s HRD-Net website.
For detailed inquiries, Seocho-gu Office’s Child and Youth Division or the Korea IT Education Foundation provides guidance.
Seocho-gu Mayor Eunhee Jo stated, “We will actively support young people to seize employment opportunities by challenging the blue ocean of the game industry through the Game PD training course,” expressing a differentiated commitment to nurturing youth talent in the 4th Industrial Revolution.
