Pilot Service for Automated Mail Delivery Using AI Robots
for In-House Employees
[Asia Economy Reporter Cha Min-young] KT announced on the 18th that it has started the 'AI Robot Mail Delivery Service' for employees working at the KT Gwanghwamun East office building.
Previously, the mail support center staff would send delivery arrival notification emails to employees, who then had to visit the support center to collect their items. However, with the newly introduced AI robot, employees can receive their mail at their desks without needing to visit in person.
The mail support center staff load the mail onto the robot and input the office location of the recipient employee. The robot then autonomously boards the elevator and moves to the mail delivery destination. This method increases delivery turnover and allows employees to easily receive their mail, thereby improving work efficiency.
The KT AI Robot Mail Delivery Service is the first attempt at indoor logistics delivery using AI robots. After a pilot operation targeting KT employees, the service will be enhanced and expanded to public institutions and general offices for AI robot indoor logistics delivery services.
Meanwhile, KT has introduced AI hotel robots at Novotel Dongdaemun and Marriott Dongdaegu, and operates AI serving robots at Mad for Garlic Bongeunsa Branch and Modern Shabu House D Tower Branch, accelerating its AI robot business initiatives.
Song Jae-ho, Head of KT AI·DX Convergence Business Division, stated, “As KT transforms into a digital platform company, we are developing various AI robot services,” adding, “Starting with in-house pilot services, we will expand the indoor delivery business using AI robots.”
