[Asia Economy Reporter Hyunwoo Lee] U.S. President Joe Biden reportedly visited a golf course for the first time on a weekend since taking office to take a break. His predecessor, former President Donald Trump, was criticized for visiting golf courses nearly 300 times during his tenure.

According to Bloomberg News on the 17th (local time), President Biden played golf at the Wilmington Country Club near his residence in Wilmington, Delaware, in the afternoon. Steve Ricchetti, a senior White House advisor considered one of Biden's closest aides, was also present. The White House revealed that Ron Oliver, the father-in-law of Biden's eldest son Beau Biden, was one of the golf members that day.

Since taking office in January, President Biden has not attended public events on weekends, mainly resting at his Delaware home or attending weekend mass at church. Former President Trump was criticized for visiting his Florida golf course every weekend during his tenure. Trump reportedly played golf nearly 300 times during his presidency.

President Biden has been known as one of the top golfers in Washington politics, having served as a federal senator and vice president for over 30 years before taking office. In 2011, the U.S. golf magazine Golf Digest ranked Biden as the 29th best golfer in Washington, D.C. During his vice presidency, he often played golf with former President Barack Obama. Bloomberg News reported that President Biden holds memberships at two golf courses: Wilmington Country Club and Fieldstone Golf Club.
