[Asia Economy Reporter Changhwan Lee] Hyundai Motor Company and Kia announced on the 16th that they have established a new 'TaaS Headquarters' overseeing the company's mobility functions, appointing President Song Changhyun as the head of the headquarters.
The TaaS Headquarters will be responsible for the entire company's mobility functions, including strategy formulation, planning, development, and operation of global mobility services.
The TaaS Headquarters will integrate existing mobility services from the customer's perspective, introduce new service models based on user data to enhance global mobility business competitiveness, and play a role in creating a mobility ecosystem where various companies can participate and collaborate, the company stated.
President Song Changhyun was recruited and appointed as the head of the newly established TaaS Headquarters. President Song is a manager with software development experience at global IT companies such as Apple and Microsoft, served as Chief Technology Officer (CTO) at Naver, and led the establishment of Naver Labs.
In 2019, he founded the mobility service startup 42dot and has recently led the development of an urban mobility integrated platform and autonomous driving technology.
President Song said, "Hyundai Motor Company and Kia are companies that can provide revolutionary mobility experiences from the customer's perspective and offer mobility services that enrich customers' lives," adding, "We will strive to cooperate with the government and other mobility companies to secure the ultimate competitiveness of the Korean mobility industry and lay the foundation for sustainable growth."
