[Asia Economy reporters Ryu Jeong-min and Lee Ji-eun] President Moon Jae-in expressed on the 16th to Prime Minister Chung Sye-kyun, who is stepping down, that "Prime Minister Chung Sye-kyun’s efforts to establish quarantine guidelines and tirelessly work on the frontlines to end COVID-19 are exemplary of field-centered administration," according to Chief Secretary Yoo Young-min of the Blue House.

President Moon said, "I also extend my deep gratitude for serving as the second Prime Minister of the Moon Jae-in administration, overseeing the entire state affairs well and leading the cabinet steadily."

President Moon added, "It is regrettable that Prime Minister Chung is leaving the cabinet, but it is only right to let him go so he can follow his own path," and expressed hope, "I believe he will continue to serve the country and its people wherever and whenever."
