Gyeongbuk Province Holds Earthquake Safety Policy Meeting... "Exploring Establishment of National Earthquake Disaster Prevention Agency" The scene of the Gyeongbuk Province Earthquake Disaster Prevention Meeting held at Kyungpook National University on the 15th.

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Jae-ho] Gyeongsangbuk-do held a meeting of earthquake safety experts on the 15th at Kyungpook National University Global Plaza to develop earthquake disaster prevention policies and the rationale for establishing a related national integrated institution.


The meeting was attended by numerous experts from Gyeongbuk Province, the National Disaster Safety Research Institute, the Land Safety Management Institute, the Earthquake Disaster Prevention Research Center, the Korea Meteorological Administration, Korea University, and others.


On the day, the National Disaster Safety Research Institute introduced the latest research cases related to earthquake disaster prevention and R&D research projects, followed by a discussion to discover new earthquake policies.


Additionally, a presentation on increasing the seismic resistance rate of private buildings was given, and in-depth discussions were held on the need for integration of earthquake-related research and national institutions, as well as the necessity and attraction strategies for a national research institute differentiated from existing research institutions.


Kim Jung-kwon, Director of Disaster Safety at Gyeongbuk Province, stated, "This was a good opportunity to explore the necessity of establishing a national earthquake disaster prevention research institute and strategies to attract it to our region, which has the highest frequency of earthquakes."
