Major Cleaning on Naebusunhwan-ro and Gangbyeonbuk-ro... Partial Nighttime Restrictions from the 16th

Seoul's 12 Expressways Undergo Calcium Chloride and Fine Dust Removal Operations

Major Cleaning on Naebusunhwan-ro and Gangbyeonbuk-ro... Partial Nighttime Restrictions from the 16th

[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] Seoul Facilities Corporation announced that from the 16th of this month until the 15th of next month, it will conduct a major cleaning of tunnels, underpasses, and soundproof walls on 12 expressway routes including Naebusunchallo, Olympic-daero, and Gangbyeonbuk-ro.

This major cleaning is carried out to wash away dust accumulated over the winter and calcium chloride spread during winter snow removal operations. The corporation will deploy an average of about 70 personnel and equipment daily to perform extensive cleaning work such as high-pressure water washing and suction on facilities including tunnels, underpasses, soundproof walls, and streetlights on the expressways.

The targeted routes are 12 in total: Naebusunchallo, Olympic-daero, Gangbyeonbuk-ro, Seobuganseon-ro, Gukhoe-daero, Yangjae-daero, Dongbuganseon-ro, Gyeongbu Expressway, Eonju-ro, Umyeonsan-ro, Bukbuganseon-ro, and Gangnam Sunhwan-ro. Cleaning will be conducted by partially controlling one lane of the cleaning section from 10 PM to 6 AM the next day according to the schedule.

Cho Seong-il, Director of Seoul Facilities Corporation, said, “During the major cleaning period, one lane may be partially controlled at night unavoidably, so we ask for the understanding and cooperation of citizens,” and added, “Seoul Facilities Corporation will do its best in every way to ensure that citizens can use the expressways safely and comfortably.”

More detailed information about the partial control of the roads can be found on the Seoul Facilities Corporation website.
