[Asia Economy Reporter Seongpil Cho] Chief Justice Kim Myung-soo of the Supreme Court stated on the 15th that "understanding and embracing the emotional pain and wounds of the people is the true form of good justice that the public desires," according to Yonhap News Agency.

According to the report, Chief Justice Kim said in his congratulatory remarks at the completion ceremony of the new Suwon Family Court building held that day, "The Family Court must be able to provide solutions to issues such as guardianship due to aging, child adoption and abuse, and multicultural family problems." He emphasized, "If our society fails to properly respond to family and youth issues and neglects them, the foundation of the nation and society will inevitably be shaken to its roots." He further stressed the active role of the Family Court, saying, "The public expects the Family Court to go beyond being a post-fact dispute resolution institution that merely judges right and wrong, and to propose solutions and remedies for family and youth problems."

Since its opening in March 2019, the Suwon Family Court had been using the existing Suwon District Court Family Annex building, but after about two years, it has settled into the new application building. The new building spans from one basement floor to ten above-ground floors (with a total floor area of approximately 18,000 square meters), and the independent annex Care Center is three stories tall. Compared to the old building, the number of courtrooms increased from 2 to 13, mediation rooms from 3 to 6, investigation rooms from 7 to 20, and parking spaces from 30 to 174. Park Jong-taek, Chief Judge of the Suwon Family Court, said, "We are pleased to be able to provide a higher level of judicial services as a specialized family and juvenile court in a comfortable and spacious new building," adding, "We will do our best to fulfill the mission entrusted to the Family Court on the foundation prepared by the public and local residents."
