[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Saeyan] Changwon City, Gyeongnam Province, has launched guidance and inspections of children's food safety protection zones in preparation for Children's Day on May 5.
On the 15th, Changwon City announced that it will focus on inspecting food safety and hygiene conditions at establishments that prepare and sell children's favorite foods, such as stationery stores near academies and schools frequently visited by children.
The children's food safety protection zone is an area managing establishments that prepare and sell children's favorite foods within a straight-line distance of 200 meters from the boundaries of elementary, middle, and high schools.
Earlier, the city conducted focused inspections in February to coincide with the spring semester opening.
Within the children's food safety protection zones around elementary, middle, and high schools in the jurisdiction, 643 establishments preparing and selling children's favorite foods and 33 excellent sales establishments are designated and managed.
The city plans to focus on guiding and inspecting compliance with basic safety rules that business operators must follow, adherence to sales prohibitions under the Special Act on Children's Food Safety Management, and compliance with quarantine rules according to social distancing.
Furthermore, the city will continue publicity and inspections to ensure the safe and hygienic sale of children's favorite foods.
As a result of this guidance and inspection, prompt administrative actions will be taken for violations, and continuous repeated inspections will be conducted until corrections are made.
