Promoting the Importance of Fire Safety Equipment and Encouraging Installation of Fire Extinguishers at Home... '119' Symbolizes 'Let's Equip Fire Extinguishers in Every Home and Vehicle'

[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] On the 14th, Moon Seok-jin, Mayor of Seodaemun-gu, participated in the ‘119 Relay Challenge’ at the district office meeting room, encouraging the installation of fire extinguishers in each household and vehicle.

‘119’ symbolizes the meaning of ‘Let each house and vehicle have one (1) fire extinguisher and one (1) fire detector (9).’

Started on November 9 last year, the 58th Firefighting Day, to raise awareness of the importance of firefighting facilities, the challenge is conducted through social networking services (SNS), where the nominated person participates in the challenge and then nominates three others as the next participants.

Mayor Moon was nominated by Yoo Dong-gyun, Mayor of Mapo-gu, and participated in the challenge, nominating the mayors of Jongno, Guro, and Gangbuk-gu as the next participants.

Since 2012, Seodaemun-gu has been supporting fire extinguishers and fire detectors annually to vulnerable households to prevent casualties from fires, and has also been conducting electrical and gas safety inspections.
