Two Vaccine Doses Administered at 3-Week Intervals to a Total of 7,200 Elderly Individuals
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] Hapcheon-gun, Gyeongnam announced on the 15th that it has started COVID-19 vaccination for seniors aged 75 and older, as well as users and workers of elderly facilities, at Hapcheon Gymnasium.
This vaccination targets approximately 7,000 seniors aged 75 and older who have given prior consent for vaccination, and about 200 users and workers of elderly facilities, totaling around 7,200 people. They will receive two doses of the Pfizer vaccine at three-week intervals.
Seniors who are unable to move easily or have underlying health conditions and were excluded from this round of vaccination will be able to receive vaccination later according to a separate plan by the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency. Seniors who have not yet applied for vaccination can visit their town or township office to fill out a prior consent form.
The vaccination will be carried out sequentially starting from Hapcheon-eup and then proceeding in order through the towns and townships. To facilitate smooth vaccination, the county will provide vaccination centers in each town and township and transportation services circulating through the towns and townships.
The vaccination process includes ▲confirmation of vaccination candidates ▲completion of medical questionnaire ▲medical examination by a doctor ▲vaccination ▲observation for adverse reactions ▲and return home. Emergency equipment and ambulances capable of emergency transport are stationed at the vaccination centers at all times in case of adverse reactions immediately after vaccination.
Vaccination candidates will receive text messages with information about the vaccination date, time, location, and precautions. Candidates must bring their ID when visiting the vaccination center.
Moon Jun-hee, the mayor of Hapcheon-gun, said, “COVID-19 vaccination is even more necessary for the elderly,” and added, “While vaccination protects individual health, it also plays a significant role in ensuring public safety, so we ask all seniors to participate in vaccination without exception.”
