Naju-si Begins Pfizer Vaccine Inoculation for Those Aged 75 and Over

[Naju=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Han-hyuk] On the 15th, Naju City in Jeollanam-do announced that it has started the first dose of the Pfizer vaccine for seniors aged 75 and older at the COVID-19 vaccination center.

The vaccination targets are 582 seniors aged 75 and older who agreed to pre-vaccination, and the vaccination will be carried out over two days until the 16th.

The first Pfizer vaccine dose was administered at around 9:07 a.m. on the day, and the vaccinated seniors will receive the second dose on the 6th and 7th of next month.

The vaccination process consists of five stages: registration, pre-screening form completion, medical examination, vaccination, and adverse reaction observation. Vaccination will be postponed if severe exacerbation of underlying diseases is expected, if the person has difficulty expressing themselves, or if there are acute symptoms such as fever (37.5℃ or higher).

The health authorities conduct detailed interviews during the pre-screening stage to check the physical condition of the vaccination candidates in preparation for possible adverse reactions, and plan to observe the vaccinated individuals for about 30 minutes after vaccination before allowing them to go home.

In case of emergency, 119 paramedics are deployed on site for rapid response, and efforts are made to establish a smooth transfer system with emergency medical institutions.

The city will operate shuttle buses between the eup/myeon areas and the vaccination center for seniors with mobility difficulties.

Additionally, post-vaccination monitoring will be thoroughly conducted for three days via phone calls and visits through eup/myeon/dong administrative welfare centers, community leaders, welfare task forces, community security councils, and Saemaeul Women's Associations.

Mayor Kang In-gyu said, “Please make every effort to ensure that citizens can receive the vaccine safely and comfortably from pre-screening to vaccination and adverse reaction management,” and added, “We will do our best to support transportation for seniors with mobility difficulties and to operate a rapid emergency transfer system in case of adverse reactions.”
