[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Kyung-pil] Wando-gun, Jeollanam-do announced that starting from the 15th, it began administering Pfizer vaccines to residents aged 75 and older in the Chedo area (Wando-eup, Gunoe-myeon, Sinji-myeon, Gogeum-myeon, Yaksan-myeon) at the Nong-eomin Cultural and Sports Center.

On the 15th, about 400 residents in Wando-eup were scheduled for vaccination, with a total of approximately 1,370 people to be vaccinated over four days.

The vaccination schedule is as follows: Wando-eup on the 15th, 16th, 19th, and 20th; Gunoe-myeon on the 21st and 22nd; Sinji-myeon on the 23rd and 26th; Gogeum-myeon on the 27th and 28th; and Yaksan-myeon on the 29th.

No vaccinations will be conducted on weekends, and on the 30th, vaccinations will be provided for residents who missed their scheduled dates. The second dose vaccinations will begin on May 6.

Meanwhile, due to the stringent storage requirements of the Pfizer vaccine, which must be kept at minus 70 degrees Celsius, vaccinations are being conducted at the Wando-gun Nong-eomin Cultural and Sports Center, which is equipped with dedicated freezers and emergency generators.

To facilitate the mobility of elderly residents to the Nong-eomin Cultural and Sports Center, the county operates shuttle buses.

Additionally, administrative staff are assigned at the vaccination center to ensure smooth processes such as parking guidance, temperature checks, verification of recipients, and completion of preliminary questionnaires.

In particular, to ensure the safety of vaccine recipients, automatic fever detectors have been installed, hand sanitizers are provided, and strict adherence to quarantine rules such as wearing vinyl gloves, masks, and maintaining social distancing will be enforced.

County Governor Shin Woo-cheol visited the vaccination center on the 15th and urged, “We will ensure that everything from vaccination to monitoring for adverse reactions is carried out flawlessly.” He added, “In a situation where a fourth wave is feared, vaccination is essential for immunity formation, and we will do our best to ensure that residents can receive vaccinations safely.”

Meanwhile, residents aged 75 and older in island areas such as Geumil, Nohwa, Cheongsan, Soan, Geumdang, Bogil, and Saengil, outside the Chedo area, plan to receive vaccines sequentially according to separate guidelines and schedules.
