[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Ji-eun] President Moon Jae-in exchanged letters with President Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa on the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Korea and Portugal on the 15th.
In the letter, President Moon said, "Since establishing diplomatic relations in 1961, the two countries have developed close cooperative relations in various fields such as politics, economy, and culture," and added, "I hope we will work together not only to strengthen bilateral relations but also to promote Korea-EU cooperation." Portugal is the EU presidency country for the first half of this year.
President Rebelo de Sousa evaluated, "Over the past 60 years, the Korea-Portugal friendship has continuously developed at both bilateral and multilateral levels based on common interests," and promised, "Let us continue to cooperate closely so that the relations between the two countries become even stronger across generations."
