More than 17,000 Pfizer Vaccinations for Elderly Facility Residents and Workers Aged 75 and Over
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Saeyan] Amid nationwide efforts to vaccinate against the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19), Changwon City in Gyeongnam has also officially begun Pfizer vaccinations.
On the 15th at 9 a.m., Changwon City announced that it started Pfizer vaccinations for approximately 17,000 people, including those aged 75 and older, residents, users, and workers of elderly facilities, at the Changwon Vaccination Center in Changwon Football Center.
On the 8th, the city conducted training within the vaccination center to prepare for unexpected situations during vaccination, covering vaccine transportation, storage, preparation processes, and response to adverse reactions immediately after vaccination.
Mayor Heo Seong-mu visited the site that day, assisting vaccination recipients aged 75 and older as they got off the transport bus and inspecting the vaccination flow.
Vaccination recipients arriving at the center had their temperature checked, filled out a preliminary examination form, completed the examination in about one minute, and received the Pfizer injection in the vaccination room. After vaccination, they stayed at the center for 15 to 30 minutes to monitor for adverse reactions, then received a vaccination confirmation certificate before returning home.
Vaccination candidates are selected according to the number of recipients in each eup, myeon, and dong based on vaccine supply conditions. The city plans to distribute vaccination appointments by setting reservation dates through individual contact to disperse recipients.
The selection criteria consider population ratios by eup, myeon, and dong, as well as center accessibility. The second dose will be administered three weeks after the first dose.
The vaccination center operates from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on weekdays and from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturdays. Additionally, transport buses will be operated to ensure recipients can visit the center and get vaccinated without inconvenience.
At 10 a.m. that day, a Pfizer vaccine vaccination simulation drill was also conducted at the Jinhae Vaccination Center installed in the Jinhae Social Welfare Center.
Emergency response procedures were checked assuming adverse reactions such as anaphylaxis occur in the observation area.
In the future, those showing adverse reactions after vaccination will be transported in connection with designated emergency medical centers.
Mayor Heo said, "With the opening of the Changwon Vaccination Center today, the originally scheduled May opening of the Jinhae Vaccination Center has been moved up to the 22nd for operation. As this is the last center to open, we will ensure stable operation by reflecting on the strengths and weaknesses of the previously opened Masan and Changwon centers."
