Samsung Engi-Gas Safety Corporation Sign MOU to Develop and Expand Application of Protective Doors

[Asia Economy Reporter Suyeon Woo] Samsung Engineering and the Korea Gas Safety Corporation have joined forces to develop protective doors with enhanced explosion-proof functions and to expand their application in industrial sites.

On the 14th, Samsung Engineering announced that it signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Korea Gas Safety Corporation for the "Application and Expansion of Protective Products in Industrial Sites." The signing ceremony was held at the Energy Safety Demonstration Research Center of the Korea Gas Safety Corporation in Yeongwol-gun, Gangwon-do, attended by Ryu Gi-pyeong, Executive Director of Samsung Engineering's Strategic Business Team, Joo Won-don, Director of the Energy Safety Demonstration Research Center of the Korea Gas Safety Corporation, and other officials from both companies.

The subject of this agreement is protective doors with enhanced explosion-proof functions. While existing protective doors were effective in preventing fires and the like, they were somewhat vulnerable to explosions, leading to a demand for protective doors equipped with explosion-proof functions at industrial sites.

Samsung Engineering collaborated with domestic small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to develop protective doors with improved materials and structures, and through testing at the Energy Safety Demonstration Research Center of the Korea Gas Safety Corporation, they were able to obtain the first KAS product certification in the explosion-proof door field.

Through this agreement, both parties plan to expand research and development of protective doors and cooperate to commercialize them domestically and open overseas markets. They will support technology for the domestic commercialization and overseas market expansion of explosion-proof fire doors, assist in opening sales channels for SME-developed products to promote co-growth with SMEs, and continue mutual technology exchange through joint seminars.

A Samsung Engineering official said, "This agreement, a model case of win-win cooperation among public enterprises, large corporations, and SMEs, will serve as a foothold for pioneering overseas markets," adding, "We will further expand the development of win-win business models based on technology."
