Immediate Response to Unexpected Network Attacks through Cloud-IDC Integrated Security Service
Provides Harmful Traffic Detection, Managed Security, and Clean Zone Bypass Blocking during DDoS Attacks
[Asia Economy Reporter Eunmo Koo] KT announced on the 15th that it has launched ‘Hybrid Security,’ an integrated security service for cloud and Internet Data Centers (IDC).
Recently, cloud services combining public clouds that use external infrastructure, private clouds based on in-house infrastructure, and on-premise servers owned by companies, known as ‘hybrid cloud,’ have been gaining attention. Hybrid cloud is praised for its excellent scalability and the advantage of storing critical data in private clouds or on-premise environments.
KT’s ‘Hybrid Security’ operates based on the Hybrid Security Platform (HSP), a hybrid cloud management platform. KT IDC and cloud customers can use the service immediately, while customers using other companies’ IDC and cloud services can subscribe starting in May.
KT’s Hybrid Security service consists of three solutions: ▲Malicious Traffic Detection, ▲Managed Security (integrated control package), and ▲Clean Zone Light (automatic DDoS attack defense). First, ‘Malicious Traffic Detection’ monitors traffic in real-time and sends SMS alerts if abnormal traffic occurs. It also checks the status of key system networks and provides daily, monthly, and annual traffic statistical data.
‘Managed Security’ controls network access by providing a package including firewalls, IPS (Intrusion Prevention System), and WAF (Web Application Firewall). ‘Clean Zone Light’ is a solution that detects and immediately responds to DDoS attacks. When a DDoS attack occurs on the internet, Clean Zone automatically defends, allowing the user’s system to operate normally. All three solutions that make up Hybrid Security are available on the day of application, and except for DDoS detection, all services have no contract period, reducing cost burdens.
Additionally, KT offers a partner program for hosting companies using Hybrid Security. This program supports vulnerability diagnosis and penetration testing when obtaining Information Security Management System (ISMS) certification, along with corporate information protection guides and incident analysis. Partners can use Hybrid Security free of charge for three months after joining.
With the launch of Hybrid Security, KT now provides services encompassing the integration, operation management, and security of IDC and cloud. KT operates ‘KT HCX (Hyper Connectivity eXchange),’ a multi-cloud hyper-connected exchange service, and ‘KT Hybrid MSP (Management Service Provider),’ an IT infrastructure service including cloud.
KT HCX connects all domestic and international cloud systems, including Amazon and Google, with KT IDC. Notably, KT has linked five IDCs located in the Seoul metropolitan area (Yongsan, Mokdong 1 & 2, Gangnam, Bundang) to form a single massive IDC, and diversified network routes up to eight paths through the ‘One IDC’ system to transmit data faster and more reliably. Providing multiple IDCs as one IDC is the first of its kind in Korea.
KT Hybrid MSP is a service that allows companies to entrust overall IT system resource management to KT. By using this service, companies can utilize KT’s professional personnel, facilities, equipment, and network resources. KT provides monitoring (control), operation delegation, technical support, maintenance, migration assistance, and consulting. This enables companies to focus on their business and expect qualitative improvements in their work.
KT offers up to three months of free benefits to customers who join HCX or Hybrid MSP in 2021. It also provides a malicious traffic analysis report and one DDoS simulation training session, allowing customers to comprehensively experience KT’s hybrid services.
Lee Mi-hee, Head of KT Cloud/DX Business Division, said, “KT is the only domestic DX provider capable of offering cloud, IDC, and network services, providing customized services optimized for companies’ complex hybrid clouds,” and added, “KT will support the digital transformation of client companies comprehensively as Korea’s top DX partner.”
