Gangnam-gu Offers 1-Year Free Public Parking to Meritorious Taxpayers Including MDM Plus and Sinan Tourism

Selected 100 Model Taxpayers and Awarded Onnuri Gift Certificates Worth 100,000 KRW Each

[Asia Economy Reporter Jong-il Park] Gangnam-gu (District Mayor Jeong Soon-gyun) held the 55th Taxpayer's Day ceremony on the 15th, awarding commendations for ‘Meritorious Taxpayers’ to five corporations including MDM Plus and Sinan Tourism, as well as five individuals.

The recipients of the commendations are ‘Meritorious Taxpayers’ who, as of January 1, have no record of local tax delinquency in the past 10 years or collection deferrals in the past 3 years, and whose local tax payments last year amounted to at least 50 million KRW for corporations and 10 million KRW for individuals.

The district grants ‘Meritorious Taxpayers’ a one-year exemption from tax audits and one year of free use of public parking lots operated by the district.

Additionally, the district distributed Onnuri gift certificates worth 100,000 KRW and letters to 100 ‘Model Taxpayers.’ These were selected through a random computerized draw from among 18,378 people who have not defaulted on local taxes in the past 10 years and have made at least two payments within the deadline annually for 8 years.

The district plans to continue this initiative annually, selecting and rewarding 10 ‘Meritorious Taxpayers’ and 100 ‘Model Taxpayers’ each year.

Shin Hojin, head of the Tax Management Division, stated, “March 3rd is Taxpayer's Day, a statutory commemorative day established by the government to foster a sound taxpaying culture. We will continue to recognize diligent taxpayers to enhance their pride in contributing significantly to Gangnam’s financial resources and to encourage residents’ interest in local tax payments.”
